Cheat for Sonic Advance

Play as Sonic and Tails
To play as Sonic with Tails (just like in the old games, like Sonic 2), first go to the character select screen. When Sonic is "highlighted", press up. Highlight Tails (press right), and press down. Highlight Knuckles (press right), and press the left-shoulder pad button. Highlight Amy (press right), and press the right-shoulder pad button. Then, once again, highlight Sonic and press A. You should hear a tone, confirming the code worked. Select a stage and you can now play as Sonic and Tails.
