First you put an item that you want to multiply into the sixth item spot. Make sure that you have a pokemon that knows how to fly. Go to the old man in Viridian City and when he asks if you are in a hurry, say no.

He shows how to catch a pokemon. When he is done flying to cinnibar island and surfing the coast until you find the pokemon M or Misingno. Run and you will have over 100 of the item in the six spot.
